Welcome!

A project about heritage steered me in the direction of researching Royalty. Crowns, titles, family connections and so much more.

From the dawn of time, royalty has been admired, copied and looked up to. Even in our modern times we are not immune to read an article, look at a photo, and sometimes drool over crown jewels.

On a fateful afternoon, sitting in a waiting room and browsing through a magazine, I discovered the recent hype covering a certain Duchess' looks and the frenzy that ensued regarding her outfits. She wears a certain somethin', somethin', and it's sold out in minutes.

So the question arose "What makes women do that".

Is the sisterhood of fashion drilling holes into our heads, trying to emulate a position not achievable? Being on par with a person in a society where status is measured in birthright and breeding? Well, the Duchess was a commoner who achieved the almost impossible, no?

So what's the deal with it?

As I was talking to my friends, wondering about all the huff & puff, somebody pointed out, that there is a small country across the pond, where a woman seems to pull the same attention.

Curiously I inquired, "Who"?

And the answer was, "Well, Crown Princess Mary, you know, the next Danish Queen".

The surprise and befuddlement on my face made my opposite laugh out loud, adding "look her up".

So I did.

Well, well, well, another commoner. An ordinary mortal, who 10 years ago dared to chat up a prince in a questionable bar during the Olympic Games that were held in Australia at that time.

They fell in love...awww...then the prince had to go back to Denmark...nooooo....

And Mary? Here the time line gets a bit vague and secretive - something about long distance relationship, emailing, emailing music, chatting, Mary following the prince to France, and then settling down in Denmark.  As his girlfriend? Yup, moved right into the palace!

Courageous women I thought. Packing her 7 coffers and moving to a country she doesn't know, an incomparable language, different weather, different culture.....different everything.

Intriguing!

I consulted blogs, news articles, etc. and one thing stood out, she is Denmark's fashion icon. True. Even one of her patronages is....drum roll..... CIFF = Copenhagen International Fashion Fair.

HA! Jackpot!

So fashion is her thing, huh? I checked. It is. Bloggers and lots of Danes go gaga about what she wears, how she's styled, and....they'd like to wear that too.

Mind you, meanwhile she's given back the patronage.....something unheard of in royal circles....something about low attendance....something about the organizers falsifying attendee number....something about.....Hold on! WHAT? She couldn't draw the crowds? Listen, if this princess can't do it, who else is able to?

But I digress.

Our sorts would gaze with a stovepipe into the mountains, than being able to afford those great outfits. You have to have a deep, and I mean deeeeeeeeeeep pocketses to copy what CP Mary can afford, my precious.

Some try to impress and go broke, some get frustrated, some get jealous.

We? We get creative - so let's see how can we buy and save the difference.
